At the entrance of the Stubaital valley, on the sunny side, there is Fulpmes, also known as the “village of smithy” because of its ancient metallurgic tradition. Thanks to the railway station, the town is directly connected to Innsbruck.
In the village, it is worth visiting the baroque church of S. Vitus and the rococo church dedicated to St. Margarethe, in addition to the museum of the forges and the "Kranerhaus", an important building of the eighteenth century.
The cable car Kreuzjochbahn links the town centre to the hiking area "Schlick 2000", known for its scenic trail - with sculptures by local artists on the way - and for the nature trail that reaches the Schlicker Alm.
The viewpoint "StubaiBlick", 2160 meters above sea level, offers breathtaking views of the Stubai Alps and Innsbruck, as well as the mountains of Wilder Kaiser and the Zillertal valley.
If you are looking for exciting activities you can try paragliding, hang gliding and tandem jump from the mountain Kreuzjoch. Do not miss a visit to the charming lake in Waxeck.
During the winter this area is covered with snow and boasts 20 km of trails for downhill skiing, as well as toboggan runs and cross country skiing. Thanks to a convenient shuttle, ski lovers will be able to reach also Stubai glacier ski, Serlesbahnen and Elferlift.
