In the heart of the "Valley of the pastures" in Salzburg, Austria, Grossarl is connected from the centre to Grossarltal -Dorfgastein ski area by a cable car.
Salzburg is really not far from Grossarl, also known as "the village of Europe": only 70 km away. Maybe the atmosphere, maybe the echoes of a life that for centuries has been following the rhythm of the seasons, rather than the great food or the average altitude, make Grossarl a lovely place to visit, not only during the famous Christmas markets or initiatives dedicated to Advent period, but throughout the year.
In winter the village, located about 900 meters above sea level, gives its best: here skiers can start to tackle the 80 km of ski slopes of the Grossarltal -Dorfgastein. Since the area is part of Skiverband Amadè, with one ski pass you can travel 860 km of slopes in five main areas for winter sports. There are also slopes for snowboarders and free riders, who can avail of two different ski schools as well.
The territory of Salzburg has a unique sense of welcome, which means that every detail is carefully looked after: just think of the fact that in addition to the traditional ski schools, including cross-country skiing, the ski resort also provides day-care for children on skis, with board included.
The particularity of the area adjacent to Grossarl is also the presence of about 40 huts, dedicated to passionate hikers walking on one of the many paths along the valley.
