Kaprun, town in the area of Salzburg, Austria, is very close to the famous resort of Zell am See. The two centers are able to put together sleepping accommodation for more than 2 million tourists annually making it one of the most important tourist areas around the country. Kaprun is a popular ski resort in Austria because it is loved by the more experienced racers: the slopes in fact depart from the glacier and reach the country and, lower, Zell am See. The ski resort of Kaprun offers over a hundred miles of trails for downhill skiing and about twenty for cross-country, even at high altitude. Kaprun is known for being the first Austrian ski resort located on a glacier, making available to skiers, besides the tracks, also nearly 15 miles of winter hiking trails.

Here, authorized and controlled off-piste skiing tracks are one of the main attractions. The area is called Europa Sportregion, an area between the mountains of Schmittenhöhe and Kitzsteinhorn, and offers possibilities for winter sports from early October until late May, from skiing to snowboarding, from downhill to carving, from tobogganing to snow rafting, as well as trips and races on horse-drawn sleighs.
