Pula or Puola is a Croatian city on the great peninsula of Istria. It is an industrial and portual center served by an airport and railway. Pula is the starting point for reaching many tourist resorts on the coast and the islands of the Kvarner archipelago with Krk and Cres.
Pula is a beautiful city with a millennial history. Located in the south of the peninsula of Istria, the city has seen on its land Romans, Goths, Byzantines, Venetians, French, Austrians and Germans during the Second World War. Since 1991 it is part of the Republic of Croatia, after the breakup of Yugoslavia.
Over the past twenty years, the city has been modernized and the historical and architectural heritage has been enhanced. The major findings are those of the Roman period, as the forum, an amphitheater or arena, the Temple of Augustus, the Roman theater, the mausoleum and the port of Hercules.
Pola is an international tourist destination, which has successfully combined tradition and ancient history with modern and efficient facilities. The city is also an important industrial center for food, shipyards and cement.
From a tourist point of view, the city offers plenty of accommodation in hotels and apartments for rent, literally besieged in summer by tourists from all over Europe.
