This is a small family-run country house hotel on the edge of Lough Swilly, embedded in 18 acres of mature trees and lawns leading to the 2 km long beach. Fort Royal is renowned for peace and quiet in comfortable surroundings with good food and wine. Within the grounds are a 9-hole pitch and putt course, hard tennis court, walled kitchen garden and arboretum. The hotel is a 10-minute walk from the village of Rathmullan. With a great selection of links golf courses within one hour’s drive, including Portsalon, Rosapenna, Ballyliffen, and Dunfanaghy, Fort Royal is a place to come and relax in tranquil surroundings. You can walk the beach, and then sit with a good book by the fire or on the terrace looking down to the sea.

The hotel serves snacks in the bar at lunchtime from 12:30 to 14:00 and table d'hôte dinner is served in the dining room from 19:30 to 20:45. Advance reservations are appreciated.
