Cassis is a town in the west end of the French Riviera, famous for the Calanques, rocky canyon with caves used since prehistoric times. In the port, close to many fishing boats, moor also yachts and boats that take tourists to visit this beautiful city.
The Calanques are located to the east of the port and appear as canyons overlooking the sea: the most significant conformations are at Pointe Cacau. At the port you can book guided tours: The Calanques are open on scheduled times.
Cassis, an ancient fishing village, has been inhabited since ancient times by Phoenicians, Romans and Ligurian and in early 1800 it has been rebuilt after the Franco-English war. The most beautiful and characteristic area of the city is the port, with boats leaving every day to go fishing and that intersect with the boats of tourists visiting the city.
In Cassis there is also the castle Chateaux de la Maison des Baux. The city's main beach is Plage de la Grande Mer, while other minor beaches are Plage de l'Arena and Plage du Corton, the latter also frequented by naturists.
