In the eighth arrondissement there is the Avenue des Champs-Élysées, one of the most famous avenues in the world, where haute couture boutiques, luxury car dealers, department stores, clubs, cafes and restaurants come one after the other for all three km of its length. The Champs Elysees depart from the Place de la Concorde and arrive at the Place Charles de Gaulle.
At the bottom, or rather on top of the avenue, stands the Arc de Triomphe. It was Marie de' Medici, in 1600, to transform what was a simple path, in a major lined with trees boulevard. In 1800 the Champs-Élysées were spiked with squares, fountains and the last renovation are about 1990, with wide sidewalks that make the street practically pedestrian. Along the Champs-Élysées stand numerous luxury hotels characterized by exclusive designs and high quality standard.
