In the Montparnasse district, which lies in the fourteenth arrondissement on the left bank of the Seine River, stands the Tour Maine Montparnasse, simply called Montparnasse Tower, a skyscraper of 210 meters built between 1969 and 1972: at the time the tower was the Europe's tallest building, before the Messeturm was erected in Frankfurt.
The skyscraper has 59 floors and boasts a restaurant on the 56th. The Montparnasse district, both with Montmartre, is considered the artists' quarter of Paris. There are many accommodation options, including budget hotels. The neighborhood is increasingly fashionable, so many small hotels are being converted and refurbished to provide comfort and better services to tourists.
