The Latin Quarterof Paris extends from the Saint-Germain-des-Prés up to the Luxembourg Gardens. In reality the Latin Quarter is not a government district itself, but rather an area between two arrondissement, the V and VI, in which there are some of the most famous and important tourist attractions of the capital, such as the Panthéon; the Luxembourg Palace, that houses the Senate and its gardens; the Sorbonne University; the Pont Neuf, the oldest bridge in town.
This is a university and student district because besides the Sorbonne, there are the University of Paris II (Panthéon-Assas) and the University of Paris III (Sorbonne Nouvelle), and also colleges, high schools, the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, the École Polytechnique, the École Normale Supérieure, etc.. The shops and clubs of the Latin Quarter are always very busy, and the nightlife is very active. In the area there are many apartments for rent, hostels, cheap hotels, B&B. The choice is very wide, and the service is usually sufficiently guaranteed.
