
Porto Vecchio, Corsica's southernmost town, is the third largest city by population after Ajaccio and Bastia. Commercial and tourist town, the Old Port has one of the most important harbors of Corsica, and is protected from behind by beautiful wooded hills.
Porto Vecchio is a lively seaside resort, full of restaurants, shops and boutiques that overlook the marina where modern luxury sailing boats and yachts usually dock. In the area of the marina there are many restaurants and shops and from here you go on excursions to Bonifacio and Lavezzi.
Porto-Vecchio Città Alta is the historical centre, with Place de la Republique and the ruins of the ancient citadel. In the village worth a visit the Fortesses - the ramparts, which are used as exhibition halls and conference rooms. Place de la République is the main square with many restaurants and bars. On the square stands the church of St. Jean-Baptist and a large tropical tree called “Bel Ombra”. Another interesting place is the Chapel of St. Croix from which the religious processions usually start.
The east coast of Porto Vecchio boasts many beaches while the west coast is more rocky. The most famous beaches include Stagnolu Bay, Baia de San Ciprianu, Olmuccio and Canella. A very scenic road leads to Solenzara beach.

Porto Vecchio’s nightlife is particularly lively and takes place in the area of the Upper Town and the port. In addition to Place de la République, many clubs and restaurants are located in Cours Napoleon, and rue U Borgu.
