Propriano, a town on the southern coast of Corsica, is within the Gulf of Valinco, and is connected by ferry to Marseille and Toulon in France and Porto Torres in Sardinia. The main feature of the place are the huge white beaches also before the town.
The great gulf of Valinco is located halfway between Ajaccio and Bonifacio, on the west coast of Corsica. Propriano is the main town of the Gulf and has a busy port, both commercial and touristic. It is close to the shore of St. Erasmus.
Near the port, virtually in the town centre, there are two beaches, Murzettu and Rinaddiu, overlooked by tourist resorts. The coast of the Gulf is covered by hills and Mediterranean scrub, very nice site where you can cool off during the summer.
However, the beaches are definitely the main attraction of Propriano: there are 12 miles of shoreline available to tourists. In addition to those close to the town, there are also the Baraci beaches with the spa village Bains-de-Baraci, the beach of Porto Pollo - near the promontory of Campomoro with the pretty hamlet of Belvedere, and the beach of Portiglielo.
Propriano is a town that has been able to gear up quickly to accommodate a large influx of tourists. The availability of facilities, hotels and restaurants is already wide, but it is developing further.
