Baden-Baden in the Baden-Württemberg Land, is a small town with less than 50 000 inhabitants on the border with the French Alsace in the southwest of Germany. Closed between rolling hills and forests, this is a major tourist and convention center, where the spa and the casino are just ... the icing on the cake.
The city offers plenty of buildings and places of cultural interest that are really important, starting from the magnificent museum founded by the collector Frieder Burda and built by architect Richard Meyer from New York: the building itself is a jewel in the forest and its collection is really valuable, with works by Max Beckmann, Kirchner, Pollock, Clyfford Still and Mark Rothko.
This city of the Black Forest is an impressive convention center which hosts events of international significance, and in 2009 hosted a summit meeting between Barack Obama and German Chancellor Angela Merkel. With regard to the conference locations, worth a mention the Convention Center Kongresshaus with rooms from 10 to 700 seats, suitable for exhibitions and events; the Kurhaus Casino Baden-Baden, which in addition to the opportunity to play in the atmosphere of Belle Epoque, offers space to accommodate up to 1000 people; the Festplielhaus, the second sized European opera house, can accommodate up to 2,500 people; Iffezheim hippodrome, horse racing track which hosts also conferences and events; the Palais Biron, with function rooms for meetings of up to 400 guests.

From a touristic point of view, in Baden-Baden - in addition to the Palace and the Casino – you should not miss the Kurhaus: in the park surrounding it, there are the springs of Lichtentaler Allee, and nearby there are the Festspielhaus, the Staatliche Kunsthalle (the art gallery) and the Lichtenthal convent.
The thermal springs of Baden-Baden were known since Roman times: one of the most famous and modern are the Caracalla Therme, in homage to ancient history. This is a complex of indoor and outdoor pools, from 18 to 38 degrees, including caves and aromatic baths. Another center is that along the Lichtentaler Allee, the boulevard walked by the European nobility of the past centuries: this is the ArenaVita fitness center.
Baden-Baden offers also several museums to visit. The ruins of the Roman baths, Römische Badruinen - Museum antiker Badekultur, retrace the history of bathing culture; the museum of civic history, Stadtmuseum Baden-Baden, presents the life of the city in different historical periods, while in the house of Brahms, along the Lichtentaler Allee as well, you can visit the last remaining home belonging to the great composer Johannes Brahms, on the German land.
Baden-Baden is a very exclusive and refined city: the shops and boutiques in the historical centre, all over a pedestrian area, are affordable for wealthy tourists. There are also a lot of fashion shops and especially stores dedicated to fitness and sports like horse riding and golf, as well as cheaper department stores accessible to everyone. The shopping streets are Lange Straße, the Bäderviertel area, the spa district, Sophienstraße and Gernsbacher Straße.
Baden-Baden is a city where music, opera, spas and casinos attract thousands of tourists every year: the offer of accommodation in hotels and pensions is therefore sufficiently large. During the spring and summer, advanced booking is recommended.
