Darmstadt, city in the Hessen Land, is located about thirty kilometers south of Frankfurt. It is called “City of Science” because of the presence of many scientific and space institutions. There is no shortage of museums in Darmstadt. Beginning with the Grube Messel, collecting more than 40 000 findings and which is one of the most interesting fossil sites in the world. The Regional Museum of Hesse, Hessisches Landesmuseum, describes the evolution of humanity - with rooms of geology, paleontology, Greek and Roman archeology – up to this day. In the Prinz-Georg-Palais, there is a rich collection of porcelain, while the Wella Museum, displays five centuries of body care, from hygiene to beauty.
Darmstadt is also a major convention center with several locations scattered throughout the city that can host conventions, exhibitions and conferences. Such as the cultural center Centralstation Kultur, with rooms up to 1200 seats, or the convention center Konferenzhotel, a short distance from Frankfurt airport, with a capacity of 650 people.
In Darmstadt there are many possibilities for shopping, in the great pedestrian area as well as in the streets of downtown - Wilhelminenstraße and Elisabethenstrasse, but also in modern shopping centers such as the Luisencenter, three-storey structure selling anything, from clothes to electronics.
