The Zoo of Frankfurt, in Bernhard Grzimek-Allee, is a natural oasis of exceptional beauty and is one of the oldest zoos in the world built inside a metropolis. The zoo hosts more than 500 species and over 4500 animals, in a scrupulous reconstruction of their natural habitats.
The zoo owes its fame to its director, Bernhard Grzimek, who died in 1987: he was a well-known zoologist, who has documented the lives of animals, devoting over 30 years of his life to the rebuilding and the implementation of the zoo after the war. Some of the main attractions are: the area dedicated to nocturnal animals, that of the tropical forest and the reconstruction of the jungle of Asia Minor, with Indian lions, tigers and leopards in semi freedom.
