Residential district and with many prestigious hotels, Rothenbaum extends on the right side of the Alster lake, north of the city's historical centre. The main road that bisects the neighborhood is the Rothenbaumchaussee, whose number 64 is the ethnological museum of the city, which not only has exhibition halls, but it is also used for concerts, reading sessions and festivals. In the area there is also a sports facility with over 50 thousand seats, annually housing the international tennis championship. The district also houses the University and Hamburg’s fairgrounds, the Hamburg Messe.
