Capital of Lower Saxony, Hanover is perhaps the most international city in Germany, with its large exhibition center as the hub of commercial activity. But Hanover is also for the international music, with the jazz festival "Swinging Hannover" and the parties on Lake Maschsee. In Hanover, there is the "red thread" that allows Ftourists tourists to visit the most important places of the city: it is called the Roter Faden, 4.2 km long and traced on the pavement of the old town.
Monuments, museums and places of interest: certainly one of the places not to miss visiting the city is the Greater Garden (Großer Garten), equal to itself for over 300 years with its famous grotto designed by Niki de Saint Phalle. From here starts the 'red thread' that passes through the Royal Gardens of Herrenhausen district, the New and Old Town Hall (Neues and Altes Rathaus), the historical center, and arrives at the castle Leineschloss, major museums and theaters. In the historical centre there is the Marktkirche, the market, and all around homes and examples of medieval buildings in Gothic art, but also countless pubs, bars and restaurants.

One of the major public museums is the Sprengel Museum, Art Museum of the twentieth century. The Kestner is instead the museum of applied arts, with sections devoted to Egypt, the Roman-Christian Empire, Greece and the Middle East. The regional museum of Lower Saxony houses paintings and sculptures, including works by Rembrandt, Rubens and Albrecht Dürer. Wilhelm Busch Museum offers a collection of satirical art spanning four centuries, while very interesting is the Museum of veterinary medicine’ history (Tiho-Tierärztliche Hochschule Hanover) with tools and diagnostic equipment for surgical operations on animals.
Shopping and nightlife: the Old Town of Hanover offers shops, boutiques and shopping centers of the highest caliber and the great fashion designers. There are also small shops and workshops for clothing as well as jewelry and more. The main shopping malls are located on main streets as Georgstrasse next to the Opera square, Ägidientorplatz, and on the pedestrian areas of Kröpcke and Steintor. Other interesting sites of the city for shopping are the church of the market (Marktkirche) in Niki-St. Phalle Promenade and the elegant galleries Galerie Luise and Lister Meile. Hanover's nightlife is certainly very busy. The internationality of the city makes the bars, restaurants, clubs always packed. Raschplatz, the Oststadt square near the railway station, is the classic area for nightlife and discotheques such as Osho Disco and Palo Palo in Raschplatz, the Zaza in Hamburger Allee. Very popular in Hanover are also gay clubs, like the Men's Factory in Engelbosteler Damm 7 and Schwule Sau in Schaufelder Straße.
Accommodation: what are certainly not lacking in Hanover are hotels. You can find all the categories, for all budgets and with the best services available. Hotels in Hanover are located in fact in all parts of the city from the center to the periphery. Just choose the one that best meets your needs, whether you are travelling for tourism or business.
