Husum, located on the west coast of Schleswig-Holstein, Au Husumer, which is its natural harbor, is the cultural center of northern Friesland. This typical seaside city boasts the presence of leading companies in wind energy and looks like a charming and lively town with many attractions and cultural offerings.
Its historic buildings and streets, several museums, an extensive program of cultural and artistic events and its strategic location near the Wadden Sea National Park and the port from which vessels bound for the North Frisian Islands, make it a place suitable for both business and leisure stays.
Markplatz is home to the town hall, originally built in 1601; on the east side of the square rise instead the neoclassical Marienkirche - with a bronze fountain of 1643, the birthplace of poet and novelist Theodor Storm - at number 8. South of the square, Nissenhaus awaits you, built with bricks of waste, which houses the Museum of the North Frisian (local & natural history and traditions). Behind the new cemetery you can visit the Ostenfelder Bauernhaus, a farmhouse dating back to 1630 where you can discover all the ancient peasant costumes. The palace of Husum was recently restored and is open to the public, with its beautiful gardens.
Every two years, is held Husum WindEnergy fair, the best environmental showcase for creating new business contacts and strengthening existing ones, while every year the city hosts the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival.
