Münster is located in North Rhine-Westphalia region. It is the center of a vast agricultural area called Münsterland. Here is located one of the largest universities in the country: the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität. From a historical point of view, Münster has a great importance. Here has been signed twice the 'Peace of Westphalia'. The first time in 1648 at the end of the Thirty Years' War between European states, the second at the end of the Eighty Years' War between Spain and the Netherlands.
Today Münster is a very beautiful city, with major exhibits and historic buildings including the Cathedral of St. Paul, the buildings of the main road Prinzipal Markt, and in particular all the area around the neighborhood Gievenbeck, located in the north west of the city.
From an economic point of view, of great importance in the city are the Congress Center and the Münster Messe, with important regional and international events. The four halls of the Congress Center, equipped with modern computer and communications systems, can accommodate over 1,700 people. The Münster Messe offers the possibility to use the space for large events, conferences, seminars and workshops. In the city there are even other convention solutions for smaller events, such as the Gut Havichhorst center and the spaces within the hotel Hof zur, located north of the city.
