Nuremberg, German city of Bavaria, is rich in history but at the same time it is a very lively and modern place. The old town of Nuremberg is surrounded by ramparts with 80 towers, and houses some important testimonials such as the imperial castle, an imposing structure symbol of the city on a hill.
The centre is divided in two by the river Pegnitz: these are the St. Lorenz and St. Sebald areas, where there is a fortress. In the two areas there are the churches of the same name that preserve the works of Veit Stoss, a famous sculptor and painter of the first half of 1500.
Well-known in the city is also the Handwerkerhof neighborhood of artisans, where you can find small half-timbered houses that host craft activities and where it seems to revive in a distant time. A visit at the State Museum of Art and Design (Neues Museum) is a must, known for its architecture and the rich collection of contemporary art, and the Art Gallery (Kunsthalle), dedicated to contemporary art of the sixties.
