Sindelfingen, in southwestern Germany, Baden-Württemberg Land, 15 km from Stuttgart, is a very special place: it is the main hub of a vast agricultural and rural area, yet it is a place where modernity, innovation and industrialization occur in several ways.
For example, major companies are based in Sindelfingen, first of all Daimler Chrysler AG, and the city also hosts one of the most modern convention and exhibition centers of the Baden-Württemberg, the Congress Center Stadthalle Sindelfingen, a very innovative and multi-functional facility, equipped with the latest technologies used internationally for events and conferences. These characteristics mean that Sindelfingen is a city popular with foreigners, and then rich in excellent hotels for an international clientele.
The city also offers various architectural and cultural landmarks that are worth visiting, such as the St. Martin Church, a basilica of the eleventh century; the old town hall (Altes Rathaus) dating back to 1487 which together with the Salzhaus (the house of salt) of 1592 is an important Tudor style complex; the main square and Marktplatz, with the fountain of friendship (Freundschaftsbrunnen) created by Bonifatius Stirnberg.
