The historical centre of Stuttgart was rebuilt as the original after the destruction of World War II. The centre is not very large, so it is easily explorable on foot, starting from Konigstrasse, the great shopping street of Stuttgart. In the area of the centre there is the Bohnenviertel district, one of the finest and oldest in the city.
The centre is closed to traffic. Those arriving by car can leave it in the parking lots near the central station or in the area of Adenauer Strasse. The historical centre revolves around the castle square, the Schlossplatz, which has in its midpoint King William’s great column of the Jubilee. Worth a visit also the indoor market, Markthalle, in Art Nouveau style.
