Willingen is part of the large skiing area Ski Arena Sauerland: the area is not very high, so the natural snow is only from December to March. However, in the higher areas there are installations for artificial snow. Willingen’s tracks are all of medium difficulty, well kept, and frequented by families with children. The ski resort Willingen is very popular among those who enjoy cross-country skiing. There are more than 90 miles of tracks with loops of different lengths and difficulty levels.
In Willingen you won’t have fun only on skis: there are several facilities for skating, snowboarding, playing curling. In this area there is the famous Mühlenkopfschanze, a springboard for the ski jump used until a few years ago for the World Cup races. After a day on the slopes or, in the summer, after hiking in the well-marked and scenic trails, in the village there are restaurants and bars available for tourists.
