In Dam Square, centre of the city, there are the Royal Palace, the Koninklijk Paleis, the Nationaal Monument, an over 20 meters high obelix dedicated to the victim of Second World War, and the Wax Museum of Madame Tussauds. Dam Square is very close to the Central Station (only 5 minutes by foot) and 15 minutes from Leidseplein and Rembrandtplein, squares so famous for traditional cafes and nightclubs.
On the right of the Royal Palace starts the Kalverstaat, the shopping street where there is the Kalvertoren Mall, instead on the left there is the Nieuwendijk, a street with clubs, coffee shops, restaurants and fast foods. Behind the Royal Palace there is the Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal, with many nightclubs, and where there is the Magna Plaza Mall. In Dam Square there are a lot of cafes, hotels and shops.
