
Évora, a town of 50,000 inhabitants in the region of Alentejo in Portugal, offers visitors a rich historical and artistic heritage. In the area of the cathedral you can visit the Bishop's Palace, in Praça Conde Vila Flor, whose collections are also housed in the Évora'Igreja do Convento de Santa Clara Museum. From the cathedral, taking the Rua 5 de Outubro you get to Praça do Geraldo with the tower of the Salaria and the marble fountain of the '500.
Évora is a university city. The ancient Universidade do Espiritu Santo, in Largo dos Colegias, dates back to the XVI century and is attended by about 8,000 students. The presence of many young people from all surrounding areas, makes it a more lively and cheerful place.
