Hotels in Lisbon can be found in all neighborhoods. In the Baixa, the shopping area famous for the large avenues like Rua Augusta, there are many clubs and restaurants: luxury hotels here are concentrated near the Elevador de Santa Justa, one of the main attractions of the city. In the central district of the city, Bairro Alto, cheap hotels are quite popular, as well as the tascas, that are family-run inns.
Even in the Alfama, the oldest part of Lisbon, the Hotels near the Castle of São Jorge are among the cheapest in the capital: in this area there is also the Cathedral and the Church of Santa Engrácia, where are buried the most famous people of the history of Portugal.
In the Chiado, the area of intellectuals, there are the main theaters of the city. Here the offer of accommodation is more diversified, with medium-high category hotels and more economical solutions. In Belem, the district along River Tagus with the largest presence of architecture from the Manuelito period, the hotels near the Tower of Belém, a symbol of the city, are often quite expensive but are characterized by excellent services.
