Between beaches and rugged coastlines, here springs the beauty of Playa del Ingles. We are in the Canary Islands, specifically in Gran Canaria. Here, in the extreme southern end, east of the dunes of Maspalomas, lies Playa del Ingles, with its large beaches, as far as the eye can see. In this island, which like all the others in the archipelago enjoys a mild climate all year round, and probably for this reason it is called 'miniature continent', the sea is the heart of every business: tourists come also from Northern Europe for surfing, kite surfing, deep sea fishing or diving to admire the beautiful seabed of the Atlantic Ocean.
The part of the island that includes Playa del Ingles is particularly sought for the beauty and breadth of the beach that leads up to Maspalomas’ lighthouse and boasts a large area behind, covered by sand dunes reminiscent of the Sahara desert. This landscape, especially at dusk, is considered one of the most beautiful of the island. The best location to admire it is, when evening falls, the viewpoint located at the bottom of the Avenida de Tirajana.
Playa del Ingles was established in the 70s as a tourist resort: each building is designed and built to offer visitors the best of a beach resort. The town stretches along the course of the long coastline, offering luxurious hotels but also the cheapest bungalows.

It is worth visiting also the nearby town of Maspalomas, developed around the tourist offer as well. This city has one of the most famous nudist beaches in the world, in addition to the already mentioned famous dunes, and the quaint lighthouse, which dates back to 1861.
Gran Canaria is a volcanic island, and its origin dates back to 23 million years ago. Even today, the benefits of this volcanic origin can be en/joyed at specialized centers for physical care and well-being (heliotherapy, thalassotherapy ...).
