White sand beach and unspoilt countryside surround this city, heart of the scenic beauty of Ibiza, in the Balearic Islands. Where only up to a century ago there was only the countryside, today there is a city full of hotels and accommodation, which were built in an environmentally friendly way: welcome to San Antonio de Portmany.
This small town, which has about 21 thousand inhabitants, is situated in a spectacular bay: on one side the sea and the white sand, the other a lush landscape rich in pine forests, olive groves, but also wind-sculpted dunes.
A few kilometers from the centre you will find the famous beaches of Cala Salada, Cala Gració y Gracioneta, characterized by an unusual mix of flat sandy beaches and rugged cliffs.
San Antonio has developed a sustainable tourism that respects the environment: hotels are located also in rural areas, and have kept the old essence of the island. The history of Sant Antoni is richly told by the cave paintings that can still be seen in the cave of Ses Fontanelles, dating back to the Bronze Age.

The discovery tour of San Antonio can start from the heart of the city, the Passeig de Ses Fonts, the core center from which unfold roads and streets and which is full of shops displaying the traditional crafts of the Balearic Islands. Moreover, in San Antonio has been recently discovered the Chapel of St. Agnes, and every year in August there is a celebration to remember the miracle of the Saint in favor of the occupants of a boat that was about to be shipwrecked.
The tourists staying in this town have plenty of opportunities, if they do not love sea life: for example, they can enjoy trekking in the forests of the area (including the night of the full moon walk, from June to October); or they can cycle the several paths, mixed routes or road, honoring the itineraries of great Spanish runners.
Finally, it is worth mentioning the original symbol of the city, a sculpture that depicts an egg (in honor of Christopher Columbus) with a statue of the Holy Mary inside.
