Tarifa, Spanish town of Andalusia, is the southernmost city in Continental Europe. This windswept city is famous for surfing and all its variations, from windsurfing to kiting. Tarifa is only 14 kilometers away from the coast of Morocco.
Tarifa is a town of just over 15 000 inhabitants in the south of Spain. It 's a city that thrives on fishing and tourism, with a port boasting an intense maritime traffic.
One of the major monuments, which is also the city's symbol, is the Castillo de Tarifa or Guzmán el Bueno, which is located along the coast. It is characterized by two massive towers that once were much higher. All the historical centre has medieval origins and is famous for its narrow streets where it is easy to get lost.
The centre, between small squares with orange trees, is the heart of the nightlife, and also hosts the town’s market, famous for fresh fish - especially tuna which is caught with very traditional methods. Among the most famous night venues: the Cafe Central, the Metamorfosis, the Misiana and El Tanakas and La Ruina nightclubs.
In the centre there are also many shops, although the strictly commercial area is a bit outside the village - where there are supermarkets and especially modern shops with surfing equipment.
