Engelberg is a municipality located in the Swiss canton of Obwalden. The country lies at the foot of Mount Titlis on top of which, at 3,000 meters, there is a large glacier park, equipped for all winter sports: downhill skiing, snowboarding, telemark. And from here you can admire incredible views over all the central Alps.
Engelberg is a village of 3,500 inhabitants a thousand meters high in the Obwalden canton of Switzerland. It is set in an enchanting valley, sunny, full of woods, at the foot of the Titlis peak of over 3000 meters, with a ski area of over 80 km of ski runs served by 25 lifts, cable cars, chairlifts and ski lifts.
In the area it is possible to enjoy all winter sports including skiing and snowboarding in a well-equipped snow park, with alpine ski runs suitable for all levels. For cross-country skiing are equipped more than 25 miles of loops for both the classic and skating styles, with a short but challenging climb that leads to Herrenrüti, where you can enjoy a splendid view over the village.
The valley of Engelberg offers activities for summer and winter, but the most popular attraction for tourists is definitely on Mount Titlis glacier park, accessible by the swivel cable car Rotair , where there is also a park for freestyle and a large ice cave. The longest run of the area is that of 12 km leading from the top of the Titlis to the village of Engelberg with a drop of nearly 2000 meters.

Nearby, there is also the Joch Pass ski area that leads to the Oberland of Berna. The easier paths, generally used by families with children, are in Brunni.
From a cultural point of view, in Engelberg is held every year the Schlagerfestival, an event for discovering new musical talents. Noteworthy is also an ancient monastery, still inhabited by monks, renowned destination of excursions that also depart from the nearby town of Lucerne. Inside the monastery is the largest church organ in Switzerland, while in the nearby abbey, there is an artisan cheese factory, a restaurant and a cheese shop.
