Hotels in Cambridge, United Kingdom

Cambridge, one of the most prestigious university towns of England along with Oxford, is located about 100 km from London in the county of Cambridgeshire. Situated on the River Cam, famous for the boating challenges, this town is known as Silicon Fen, because it is home to many high tech companies.

The history of Cambridge began with the Roman Empire, whose findings of streets and walls are still visible. The birth of the first school dates back to 1200, with the School of Pythagoras in the building which now houses the St. John's College.

There are many places of tourist interest in the city. The first among these is the Magdalene Bridge near the Round Church - a church of 1100. There are several university buildings that can be visited, such as the aforementioned St. John's College and Trinity College. Two courtyards very nice not to be missed are the Great Court and the Neville's Court.

The symbol of the city is the chapel of King's College, where in addition to religious meetings, events and concerts are also organized. The Fitzwilliam Museum displays, among others, also works by Cézanne, Picasso, Rubens, and Rembrandt.

Among the most interesting events in Cambridge, the most interesting are the Cambridge Film Festival, with international film presentations, the Cambridge Midsummer Fair, a traditional and ancient market, the Cambridge Folk Festival. The city is a tourist destination especially in summer, when students leave the city to return home.
